Can anyone suggest a piece of hardware that is good for reading pdf files away from your laptop?
I've done a little research into eReaders but everything I've looked at so far is absolute CRAP.

I'd like the device to:
- store a couple of Gb of pdfs locally
- connect to the internet via wifi
- have good search and bookmark functions

Looks like most eReaders can't do any/all of those things.

I've never had anything smaller than a laptop before.
What are the best options? Some handheld device running XP?

Cheers.

I was looking for something bigger than iphone or blackberry - they are way too small to read ebooks on surely? Anyway, iphones and blackberries are for rich people, aren't they? I don't know anyone with either of them, that's for sure. I know people with LG touch phones, but again, they cost 300€+ and are too small.

I was trying to find something with a 6x4 inch screen or bigger. Maybe something that folds and opens out.

Thanks for your suggestions.

If you have a budget of over $400 you'd buy ipad or, even better, one of its competitors

Thanks for the replies.
I don't think I'll buy anything now; nothing seems to be quite ready.
I'll look at it again in Summer/Autumn and see what's happening.

Cheers.
