Hosting for European site questions ?

Hi,
I am making a site that is mainly targeted for european countries (but not exclusive).

I am considering getting a host in europe...
Apparently, having your server in the country that you are targeting helps alot from a seo point of view...

Question
If i want to target europe and get a server in france :
- Do search engine consider the fact that its in the same continent ?
- Would I only get bonus seo points for searches made by people in france ? Thus people in germany or spain would have no seo bonus points at all, just like if i was using my US hosting provider ?

Other than seo, european visitor would benefit from the loading speed of an european based host... Alternatively is there any Europe/NorthAmerican host that have servers here and there that can provide fast speed for both continent ?

I need cheap , fast and reliable ( in that order of importance, but they all are important) ...

I have 40% target in Europe and 60% from USA
I host my websites with Eskhosting.com they are based in Europe and have servers in the USA

I didn`t notice any slowness from any location (I also travel a lot to Europe and
USA on business, support is great their and uptime too, no issues, thus they could
be great for you as well

Well their servers are in the US ...

it seems like a nice host, but my site needs to load very quick in europe..
Ill keep it bookmarked tho, thx
