Okay so when I want to host a site I first register my domain name, and then I get a hosting service for my domain. One question I have though, for all of you with dozens of sites, do you have to get a new hosting account for every site/domain that you want to host? I've seen Dreamhost's site say that you get unlimited domains but does this mean that you can have as many completely different sites as you feel like using one hosting account...as long as you don't go over the disk space and transfer limits?

yes a lot of companies allow you to host a lot/unlimited websites, the only limits are space and bandwidth you use in total

anyway you'll probably be asked to move away before you reach them because you'll be using too much resources (ram and cpu), but this isn't going to happen if you don't have thousands and thousands of hits a day

for example I use hostgator now (plan with unlimited domain) and they seem to be really good
I have used also hostingzoom/resellerzoom in the past (and still have something on their server) and they're another good host

Thats good news, I thought I was going to have to setup a new account and pay $10/month for every site!

Or you can buy whats called a reseller account. Which allows you to puchase a large amount of space/bandwidth for a small price, and create many different sites.

I bought HostGator hosting for this month, and so far I love it. Host unlimited addon domains for free, and the nameservers usually get to work right away.

Highly recommended.

Wow, nice to see a positive HostGator review lately. Heh. I had them three-four years ago and had to move on.

I've heard positive things about them lately - I guess they've changed. Worst hosting experience of my life was Globat a couple years ago.....wow. Stay away.
