I'm using the Adwords Editor and I was wonderin how do I know what exactly to bid on my clicks? I read its better to start higher and then lower your bid instead of starting low and goin up.. so how exactly do I know where to start? Same question if I try this campaign on yahoo also

Would edit one of my posts but I'm not able to..

Since a couple places say its bad to start your bid low and raise it does this mean I should never raise my bid?

If I do start a campaign with a low CPC like 0.04.. instead of raising my bid in that campaign to something like 0.30 CPC would it be better if i start a new campaign at 0.30 CPC?

Would I have the same negative effect if I were to raise it from 0.04 in my first campaign?

and the theory behind this is...

Higher bid -> Better ad placement -> Better CTR -> Cheaper clicks

So you start high so you get a good ctr and then once you slowly lower it a cheaper bid will equal the same placement as you were paying for at the start.

and the theory behind this is...

If you bid high, you get good ad placement, which results in a higher CTR.
Google or Yahoo or whoever will reward you for your high CTR by allowing you to lower your bids and keep the same ad position.

If you bid low, you get shitty ad placement and therefore shitty CTR. Raising your bid migth increase your placement and maybe your CTR, but byt then you've wasted a bunch of money and may never be able to get your bid back down.

Start high, but than check your ROI carefully. you will know how much is worth your while to bid only after a few weeks.

ok, now how slowly are we talking about lowering it, every few days?

Google charges you according to your QS and CTR so you can even leave your bids at say $5 or $10 and as your shit improves googz will only charge you just below the guy higher than you and just above the guy lower than you, this all depends on your QS and CTR.

So basically you don't really even need to adjust your bid prices.

Unless of course you are not shooting for the top 3 positions, I can't help you there.

When it comes down to it, make sure your site is relevant & NEVER stop shooting for great CTR's.
