I want to start with Facebook marketing because its easy and supposedly doesn't cost much..how much would you guys recommend I spend on a campaign?

The first campaign I did with a link from A4D and I spent ten bucks for a two day campaign. I wanna try a FB page using either amazon/clickbank links.

Has anyone else tried clickbank and amazon with fb? and whats the best way to maximize my profit with a FB campaign?

I started with about $50.34 in my account

@swiftmoney facebook traffic doesn't suck, facebook ad team sucks.

I think if your biggest worry is about spending too much then PPC isn't for you
right now, starting off you really need to dump some money in, not just $10.
I'm talking $100's of dollars. Since right now you aren't really after leads as
funny as it sounds. More or less right now you are just after data that you can
look over and really get an understanding as of why this worked and why that didn't.

And in the end, even if you don't break even or if you lose every single bit you put
into that campaign, you can't look at it as a failure, you have to look at it in a sense
like "Okay well this part didnt work, i need to fix this, i need to make this look better" etc
etc.

I agree that Facebook traffic sucks for converting. The best move in my opinion is to push them towards a facebook page itself. The CPC on the network is lower, and you can retain them somewhat like a "list" and continue to market to them through that.

But Facebook people are just browsing around and dicking off. They are probably in the most mindless state of browsing possible. So dropping random aff links on them isn't likely going to cut it. Provide them quality, try to get them over to your site and capture their attention there, and then convert them into buyers. If you can get them from facebook to your actual email list, they are going to be way more targeted than the random joe who liked your page.

Thanks for the advice Spooled you are right I need to analyze data and really see what works and what doesn't. I only put $10 in because I felt like I didn't really know what I was doing but I learned a few things.

And Hobbster, what I did was create a FB page related to my offer that linked to a blog. The FB page had the AF link and the blog had banner ads. The offer was recommended by my manager at A4D but when I look at some of the offers on Clickbank that would relate to the blog the payout is a lot better...So I'm not sure which I should use. I'm also not sure what to offer to get people on an email list.

And another thing I'm asking is how long should I make a FB campaign for? Like where it says campaign start date and end date, I chose to make my first campaign a day.

Again you are too worried about payout/profit lol. It's nature to be worried about those things I understand, but right now you are just trying to get a profit nonetheless. You're trying to skip too many steps.

As far as not sure what you would offer to get people to subscribe to a mailing list, think as if you were a customer, Lets say you are into bodybuilding; When you go to a supplement site would you rather subscribe to there list to only be spammed for all kinds of offers that you probably wont even open, or would you rather subscribe for tips and tricks on how to get bigger/cut? For instance when we see tips and tricks, our first thought is "hey, free information to help me" instead of "oh lord they want to sell me all these supplements"

In one of the articles here a member explains how important it is to build a foundation first, and what this means is to gain trust from a community. So start out offering tips, tricks, free ebooks etc to help this person out, then every blue moon you can throw in an offer and you will get leads out the ass. When you help people out, you gain trust. So when they see how your blog/site is going out of its way to provide helpful information to them, they are more likely to open that offer you eventually send them and they will have much more of a confident state of mind that they can trust you with buying this.

Those are just my 2 cents, I haven't been in this game too long but understanding and visualizing each potential customer is a detrimental aspect.

Thanks for all the input guys..I figured I would have to burn through some money before seeing any profits and that's definitely the case.

Pinay_gal, why do you say FB traffic sucks? And have you tried anything you think is better than FB?

FB traffic sucks ass and is very hard to convert, at least in my experience. Good luck.

Not bad on my experience. The best infact, you just need to know all the ins and outs of the system before trying to purge in. Facebook is the best one I've ever had because of my direct affiliate links + it's Pay Per Click. No payment until your ads are click.

Needless to say what I am doing in my ads is put in the magic words "Click to buy" "Click to Purchase" "Buy keyword now" at the end of the sentence. Which adsense and other companies DO NOT allow aside from facebook.

So all the clickers in your ads know that they will buy something. It's in their head already that's why they clicked. People who are just wondering around will be hesitant to click as they already know that the ads is selling something. And your target customer that will click your ads know that they will spend some money now.

I am getting 40%-50% Monthly conversion rates on facebook cause of this and the best PPC traffic I have ever used.

FB ads are decent if used correctly.
They need to be treated differently than Bing Ads or Adwords.
Like paperboy said, include those "magic words" and make sure you are targeting the correct audience (Facebook allows some pretty amazing targeting options, so take advantage of that)

I'd say start off with maybe $50-100 and test out, if that doesn't work tweak and try again.

+ also it's use before pay
Which makes facebook PPC good. You get the first $50 I think to use before paying by the end of the day.. Use before you pay em, so if you decided not to continue anymore after day 01 you can just cancel the whole thing. but you cannot pay anymore at all cause your payment page will be deleted. but that's a + for me cause you can first test the waters out before paying anything..

This is solid advice. I just wanted to add that while putting "Buy Now" in your ad copy is a good idea, putting the actual price is not. Get customers who are willing to spend money to your landing page first then sell them on the product before revealing the cost...then sell them on the product some more.

The obvious exception to this rule is when the absurdly low price of your product is one of its benefits.
