There seems to be a complete arsehole who has nothing better to do than to click on the adsense ads on my site. The thing is it isn't just one site.

- the sites aren't linked together
- i've never given out my website addresses

So i guess they've reversed IP'd one of my sites and found some others??

How can I deal with this? This has been going on for the last few days. 9th - 70 clicks on one of my sites, 10th - 40 clicks each on 3 other sites, 11th - 40 clicks on one site. All different sites.

I'm finding it difficult just looking in awstats to try and find the IP address. Any suggestions what to do?

they make some php script to prevent it, it might even be free I can't remember. I'd take the ads offline until you get it sorted out, the people at Google are assholes about this kind of thing

Ive actually been having similar numbers in my adsense reports. I have a feeling it may be on their end.

Thanks everyone. I've been taking the ads off the sites that seem to be targeted, but this person just seems to move on to another site, so I might remove them completely for now. I informed Google of the first occurrence, and have just let them know of the rest, but they seem to come back with a generic response of "reading the programme policies and adjusting clicks if they find any unusual activity" rather than helping solve the situation!

RuDeDoGg - there are a few but I don't think they work too well any more because of recent updates to Internet Explorer.

pfgannon - have you had an unusual high number of clicks on several sites? has this happened for several days and did you let Google know about it?

Adlogger.org was great for this and free but no longer is supported...not sure what to use now but i'm sure there are some scripts out there

Code:
<?php

//Set banned IP
$banned  = '123.123.123.123';

//get user IP address
$userip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

//check for banned IP address
if($userip == $banned){
    header( 'Location: http://track.moreniche.com/hit.php?w=110982&p=2&s=24&campaign=bitch' );
    exit();
}

//continue with script...

?>

Place at the very top of your page, put their ip address in where needed and change that affiliate link.

EDIT: well never mind you don't have their IP addy...

Cheers Xrproto! I'll use that if I can find out the IP.

Google just got back to me, but they can only monitor the situation which I guessed would be the response. I guess I'll have to find out myself, although he didn't click yesterday, hopefully he's got bored and stopped for good.

you could get a little cleverer on it. write some script that logs ips. use that to decide whether or not u show adsense. Replace with affiliate banners or something instead.
Btw, Anyone got any javascript to log actual clicks on a page and cookie it?

It doesn't matter so much that Google can't do anything. I'm glad you contacted them because it will work in your favor if they ban you and you try to get back in.

Getting his IP wouldn't be that hard. Just make one of the adsense boxes on your site a "fake". Create your own template of ads and make each of the links go to a page on your site that databases IP's. If you put this on a couple of the sites and compare the IP's, you'll find the fucker!
