How to know when to link out with Tier 1?

Hi,

I'm relatively new here - spent a lot of time on BHW, but looking to jump ship as it seems people here are more knowledgeable and less "OMG how do I rank #1".

I created a small group of Web 2.0's (100 of em) to build as some Tier 1's for my money site when it's ready to relaunch. I've started backlinking these web 2.0's (I did a brief case study on BHW comparing 4 bought Tier 2 packages) and am planning to continue linking to them gradually, hoping to build up some page authority and relevance for my money keywords. I've been slowly building them and they are probably around 5 months old by now with between 1 and 9 posts on each I believe.

My question is how do I know when I should link them to my money site? Is there a point where you can say "they're ready"? I was thinking possibly linking to some competing sites on the second page and watch them for movement to see if it works? And if they do move it's ready to linking to your site?

Or am I overthinking things and that doesn't really matter - just link them and keep slowly backlinking the web 2.0s?

Any help or experience from people would be muchly appreciated.

You may be overthinking things a bit. Try little by little and mark down your results. If you notice and negative results, figure out what's causing it and remove if necessary. Sounds like you're off to a great start.

I'm all for being cautious, but I think you're taking it a bit too far here. Link out in sections if you want to do it as a drip, but also link out to other authority sites in your niche. Keep it looking natural, and you'll have a better time.

Hi,

Thanks the response from an experienced member here as well. WF has a reputation for being a tough crowd so I was a little scared of posting but appreciate the guidance.

I'm going to do as you suggested and try linking out to some authority sites in my niche as well. I'm going to research them carefully and not link to Wikipedia. I've seen so many blog posts doing that, and it screams "seo" so I'm assuming Google is seeing the same thing.

Thanks for the advice.
