:hollering::hollering:Hi, I recently got hold of two domains (dropped and therefore free except registration costs) that are the names of two leading action sports (skateboarding, snowboarding) athletes. The domains are .com.au (Australian domains), so obviously looking to rank for queries from Australia, as don't think a .com.au will appear in results anywhere else in the world - yes I'm aussie too.

The monthly search data for each is as follows:

Athlete 1 - 4,539 Amazon products

Local Australia
Broad - 27,100
Exact - 2,900
Phrase - 22,200

Global
Broad - 1,500,000
Exact - 135,000
Phrase - 1,220,000

Athlete 2 - 1,737 Amazon Products

Global
Broad - 368,000
Exact - 90,500
Local - 301,000

Local Australia
Broad - 5,400
Exact - 1,300
Phrase - 4,400

What would be the best way to monetize these domains. Each of the athletes has video games, hardware (skate and snow gear), dvd's, etc widely available on Amazon, so my intention was to try an Amazon A store, or use their widgets etc. Or to build a site for each, and use Google Adwords links (or maybe both).

Any advice on whether this would be worthwhile or a better alternative approach would be appreciated. I've been a wickedfire lurker for a while, but this would be my first real test project.

Thanks

The first order of business is to research the domain history and find out if the domains were allowed to expire due to threat of a trademark infringement case. No sense in starting a legal battle.

Careful with this. People aren't going to be happy and they might take legal action if you start making money of a site with their name as the domain.
