Got my PageSpeed to 75/89

This isn't everything I've done all day, but it's the highlights of the worst parts of my day. I started this journal because I've never really paid that much attention to SEO before and figure I should try and rank a decent website at least once and learn the basics. It's kind of fun, but different from paid traffic.

Finished making Knowem accounts. I did one or two sections a day. This really wasn't that bad. The worst part was that Firefox can only handle so many tabs before it just breaks down.

Hey, I used to shy away from SEO too, but recently found the error in my ways. SEO (even whitehat) is a lot about automation. Since you mentioned knowem, check out this thread

and post #13 specifically.

Don't know whether you can code or not, but scraping is a HUGE deal and will help you immensely. Good thing is, you can actually scrape using excel (YES!) using the extremely useful Seo Tools plugin and xpathonurl. Here is a very good guide which points to further reading too

I've read that thread from Erect probably 20 times, an each time I tell myself "Alright you're going to learn how to do this!!!".

Then the retard takes over and I quit because I'm straight up too stupid to get it. I wish I was but I'm not.

Haven't seen these two yet. Will take a look, thanks!

Today was pretty average, no especially annoying headaches. A lot of shit to learn, a lot more work to do.

Today and yesterday haven't been bad at all. Building links slowly. My main concern is not getting this site banned, so I'm taking it slow and steady and making sure I'm not doing anything that would be disapproved of so far. I have most of my content written out (30k words), but am planning out my next batch of articles as I learn more about my niche and people in it.

I've noticed myself becoming more conscious of the tasks and processes I'm doing and asking myself if/how they can be automated. Like clicking all those activation links is something I shouldn't have been doing.

Nothing annoying today. Fixed a few things that needed fixing on the site and added a plugin to give users related posts at the end of a post. Did some blog comments (not necessarily for the links, but I plan on e-mailing the site owners later for links/guest posts once I've somewhat established a relationship). It seems like quite a few of the people in this niche know of and talk to each other often.

Had something odd happen over the past few days. So I'm tracking my site in micrositemasters, and I have a category page (the month the article was posted) ranking for a keyword, and not the article itself. I haven't built any links to either page, but I would assume the page with the url.com/keyword-in-title would rank higher than url.com/month/

Nothing bad happening so far. Just slowly building links. The only thing I really dislike about SEO other than some of the technical shenanigans is that getting feedback takes forever compared to paid traffic.

Everything has been going better lately. A lot more of my links seem to be sticking. The process is just so slow. I was being too hasty before and expecting things to blow up essentially overnight.

Wow. I read that thread from Erect. Holy fucking shit. It was like Christmas. I was more excited reading that thread than I was on my birthday. I had heard of iMacros before, but I never put 1+1 together. Reading that thread was like doing math, but only knowing how to do addition and subtraction, and now I can do multiplication and division. This is going to save me HOURS of time. I remember reading other peoples threads and wondering why people would buy a Windows VPS. Now I know.

iMacro's update

This shit is kind of frustrating, but I'm learning one or two new steps a day. Another week and or two and I'll be good to go.

Had some issues getting started. Couldn't even get iMacros on IE 11 to switch to new tabs. Switched back to Firefox, no issues so far.

iMacro's is going well. This is going to save me a ton of time when I'm finished. It still won't be completely automated, but two out of the three steps will be taken care of. Getting more links too, but still need traffic. After I get this last batch of content up, I'll make that my full focus. I feel like if I don't have something posting every day/every other day, it's going to hurt my rankings.

So I'm at the point where I'll have to use the scripting portion of iMacros to get any further it looks like. I'm trying to scrape a vbulletin forum for topics to write about. With my current method I can get about 9 or 10 thread titles, and then I run out of variables. But with scripting, the limit isn't' there it seems.

Got my first visitors from Google today. Slowly getting better. Right now I feel like I'm that guy at the club who has to stand in line, follow the dress code, and pay cover, when I keep seeing people who aren't following the dress code, skip to the front of the line, and don't even look at the bouncer.

I have to finish this iMacro in ~10 days because I'll have run out of content by then. I'm using it to scrape a forum to get ideas for new articles. My niche doesn't have a lot of people in it, but the one related to it does, so I'm working my way in with that crowd.
