My advice, read all the stickies in the newbie section after which I would suggest doing the same in the Traffic and Content section.

If you are to lazy for all of this or look for the 'quick' read, go do a search on Warrior Forum. Their experts are much more knowledgeable then folks here... Actually, that should be your first destination... forget the guides/stickies here....

Try narrowing down your question, be as specific as you can. Sounds like you need some help basic keyword research above all. You can find that in Google itself. Once you know what keywords you want to go after, then research onsite SEO, then offsite SEO. Not all that complex really, don't make it harder than it is.

Also, before asking basic questions like this, try including boobs in your posts, it's the only way to guarantee quality responses here.
 
Create useful content that people will link to. Once you've got a few links, you can start to consider scalable content creation strategies to scale up your traffic. Of course, this is easier said than done. PM me with the topic of your site, and I'll see if I can give you any suggestions for content.
