Helping out a buddy.

I want to have a form of metrics to measure the effectiveness of the SEM/SEO I am going to show him.

Other than a dedicated phone number on the website, I'd like to really nail down the keywords that get people to call.

I was thinking I could look at the time of the phone calls and than his traffic report and look that way.

Any insights?

(note: we have a online appointment form with a conversion script as well)

instead of just pasting a number on your ppage, put a click to call box on it where the user enters their number and yoour phone sservice connects the call. then connect the user session with each call. you'll be able to track thhe coonversion funnel that way.I'm nit drrunk, I'm tyoing on my shitty ass phone

You might check out Ifbyphone's call tracking. Last time I looked at it they were the closest thing to an ideal solution which exists for this type of thing. As well they aren't super expensive and will work with the 'little guy'. You can also integrate it with Google Analytics if you are using that for your end to end tracking and conversion metrics.

Ya Google Analytics and set the form as the goal.

Enable autotagging in the adwords campaign.

It's the best solution for clean, real businesses. (ie not affiliate or CPA)

I got a method I came up out of my ass you can probably try it.

  1. Set coupon code for volume keywords
  2. A dynamic landing page that would display different coupon code based on the keyword they come in.
  3. All other keyword with no volume, give it a default coupon code.
However this will rely on merchant agreeing to have coupon code and customer actual use it during the phone call.

This is a way you can track conversion and coupon code would actually increase conversion.

However, if you just want to track the callers, then this method will be less effective.
