Two of Netellers owners made the mistake of thinking it would be ok to live in the United States.
 


Yeah.. but what a lot of people still don't realize is that the loophole for the new law is that if the software/site ONLY does poker, and not casino games, then it's still okay. Which is why PokerStars is still enjoying healthy profits and tremendous new growth due to the law, and why 888/Casino On Net who owns PartyPoker got shutdown. Now all of these places are making sub-companies and new sites/software to only cater to the US gambler with poker. Everything else is banned. So the poker crazy continues, and I'm sure PokerStars is making billions of dollars more now than ever.
 
Imagine how big it would be if it was legal and taxed. The casinos would gladly pay taxes. Almost every state has a legal version of gambling - from horse racing to lottery to indian casinos to slots to poker....

Just regulate it and tax it and stop worrying about legislating values to people.

Amen to that. The biggest beneficiaries would be existing large offline gambling operators with large brand names. They'd probably buy out some of the existing online industry players.
 
I love where it says "the multibillion-dollar online gambling industry was a colossal criminal enterprise masquerading as legitimate business."

its funny how they make something illegal than prosecute everyone and confescate the cash then justify it all by calling them "criminals."

Oh its okay, no need to worry about where we got the money for our weapons, we took it from "criminals" not the american people.

Except instead they are cleaning them out of the market and sending the owners to prison ahead of time; why not save a few billion in marketing and pass the clean up cost off to US taxpayers?

Sending people to PRISON for providing a service some people deem valuable enough to use is absolutely fucking WRONG... It's kidnapping, it's a violation of rights to liberty and the pursuit of happiness, in short --> I believe it is treason.

These pompous self-aggrandizing jackasses (Government) took oaths to uphold the Constitution then they spend thier life-long careers sucking our money up and working on ways to undermine the document they swore to protect.

Well in the eyes of the US Govt it seems ANYTHING related to online wagering is illegal EXCEPT for horse betting and state lotteries, so based on this there would be NO legal poker aff program.

However, Absolute Poker still accepts both US players and affiliates and offers many other ways of depositing and withdrawing other than Neteller.

That is fucking hilarious. Do they not think criminals are involved with the casinos in vegas? From what I've heard, there are still mobs involved but they are way more laid back than they used to be.

Not really any more. The oversight for Gaming Comission in Vegas is so severe now, that I would be shocked if there were any serious ties to organized crime any more.

Not to mention you have large public companies with a lot to lose, and the chances are simply not likely. Most of the casinos in Vegas are owned by a handful of extremely large corporations.

In fact the turnover of the Mob in Vegas began around the time Howard Hughes started buying up everything he could on the strip.

While it is possible there are some smaller casinos in Nevada with extended ties to some crime families, again the oversight is so strict and severe, that is not very likely and definitely not wide spread.

Seems to me there are still lots of opportunities out there. Especially if you think more on an international level. I am getting ready to launch a Casino review site in a few weeks. I do admit this probably is more feasible since I am in Europe, but I dunno - perhaps there are still big profit to be made in the US market as well?

Is it really spam when Reefer asked about Aff Programs? Personally I would have appreciated his post if I had posted the question.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less :) Just trying to get a handle on the rules that I didn't think existed.

I dont believe thats the case. They have their head offices located in the same building in Gibraltor but as far as I know that is the extent of their relationship.
 
I heard a discussion on the SEO Rockstars podcast about this law. They said that the law outlawing online gambling was only valid for 3 years or something and that i was really a ploy to give the offline guys a chance to launch there own services.

The also mentioned that they wanted to get the International players our of the way because it was hurting the US companies.

Knowing how big business and government works, I believe it.
