Is a dropped domain worth bothering with?

So, I'm looking to pick up a domain with some history for a client. Every person I make an offer to in this niche thinks they're sitting on onlinepoker.com.

Is a dropped domain worth bothering with? No links... obviously no PR. Is that better than starting fresh?
 


I have a similar question. I just bought a domain that is 10+ yrs old.
It has about 19 backlinks and PR2. Looks like it was bought by a competitor then the competitor went south.

Does this domain have age-value now?
Or does it have to be live for all those years ?

You can always check stats and see if it gives incoming visitors... Then drop renewal of domains that don't.

Does Google see it as 10 years old even though it has been inactive?
I dont know how long it was expired for, that would be nice to check ..
