Is Multiple Keyword Targeting Possible?

Is it alright to aim for multiple keywords, instead of just 2-3 main ones? I have thought of a decent niche but it doesn't have 1 main keyword.

It could be compared to colors. Say I wanted color.com, but the exact keyword color only brought in 1,600 results/month, but the keywords blue color, red color, green color, etc. each brought in an additional thousand visitors/month. As you can see, it is very versatile.

Example - colors.com/blue
colors.com/green
colors.com/orange

Can I still rank high in the SERPS for the blue, green, and orange keywords just from having a page or two with quality, original content?

Well sure, but why not just expand your site to take into account the different keywords?

Rather than having supertargetedcolorsite.com, and trying to target multiple keywords on one page, go for generalcolorsite.com/blue, generalcolorsite.com/green, etc.

That way you can optimize individual pages for specific keywords, and you'll have more content so Google will give you more lovin'.
