Is oDesk the best hiring service online?

Looking to contract people for Youtube work + PSD to Wordpress work

Odesk

Odesk is good. You just need to sort through all candidates. I have had great help utilizing odesk.

freenlancer and odesk both have good and bad workers. You just have to do your due diligence and do your homework before you hire anyone, especially for a big project.

have you tried looking at Staff.com?

I work for them and we've got some experts with varied skills (Wordpress & Designers included). You might want to look at them. You can hire full time employees at a very low cost.

After spending a heavy 5 figure investment into freelancers to launch a new stock trading ecourse. Here is what I found in the last few months.

Odesk has got the a great platform and huge candidate pool. But you have to weed through a ton of junk applications.

freelancer.com is a pain to figure out the platform

guru.com is hard to get escrow payments back

vworker.com: if you want to go back to 1999. then you here so enjoy the 90's platform of bugs and errors

elance.com seem to get more higher quality "made in america" US candidates

That's my random freelancer site review.

As you were doing your due diligence were there certain questions you asked that helped you weed out the good from the bad candidates?

Odesk is still the best under my experience.. Hired 1 from freelancer and 2 from odesk for my blogs... Both deliver quality work but I paid odesk more cause I'm paying a brand... and as they say even if both works are comparable "you get what you've paid for"

But basically you can look anywhere you want bro you just need to know how to properly weed the assholes of the majority cause 90% of your applicants will be full of shit first timers telling you stuff which they don't even understand themselves just to get a job.

Seems like oDesk is still the way to go since more people are just up for contract work.

But, if you eventually would want to hire dedicated, expert full time workers then Staff.com seems to be the best choice.

The choice would depend on what you need at this time.

Odesk is the best for me. They are all different and have stregnths and weeknesses..

Odesk: probably most noob friendly

Elance: Prepair to spend more and more serious companies / people in general

Freelancer: more personable type experiences.. more blackhat workers from my experience.

won't really go for blackhat workers. wouldn't risk the company with that kind of strategy. i heard that strategy is only for very short term and could backfire and do great damage.

just my 2 cents though.

Yes, I think oDesk is good because it does offer some assistance to those freelance professionals who are not paid by those who hired them.

I prefer rentacoder > Now Vworker.com

They even have a blog post on their blog that tells you why you should choose them over odesk.

oDesk + hourly = win.

For fixed-priced projects there are better alternatives.

I use Odesk hourly workers, I stay away from fixed price, what I find happens is that I post a fixed price project, they bid and accept, they then relist the project and get it done for a much lower price by someone else and resend me the crap work.. Hourly is better so I can keep an eye on them.

Odesk, Elance, fiverr, and Vworker are my favorite.

I use odesk a lot, personally I love it.

yeah there are ton of crappy employees on there but there are also a ton of great one.

one tip to avoid spammers: tell them to put "orange" or 4+3= in their subject line. good way to get rid of the copy-paste spammers that writer ' hello sir I have read alll your requirements blah blah..." and they havn't even read them.

Depends on your needs. If you're looking for a long term relationship with a worker, then oDesk and Freelance is good.

If you're more of the order per order basis, Fiverr's better imo.
