Is the google authorship photo working for you?

I just set up one of my authority sites with a Google profile. I've tested it out with the rich snippets tool and everything is set up correctly (and my profile pic shows up in the preview). The picture is not showing in serps yet though.

Now the question is, what triggers google to actually use your picture when delivering SERPs? Some possible factors...

- How active are you on google plus? (ie how many posts do you have, how many people in circles, etc.)
- Type of query (ie could there be two *different* queries that return the *same* page...yet one query triggers the picture and one query doesn't)?
- Site "authority", age, etc.

Has anyone tested this or read anything?

I think site authority is the biggest. The only times I've seen this working were with highly respected authors on highly respected sites. So I believe personal authority plays a role too (but I can't tell how directly it's associated with G+ profile authority.)

Unfortunately I've never been able to pull this off, so no real testing here :(
