Is there a way to mask sub-domains?

I have a domain that I want to setup sub-domains on, and the sub-domain is going to forward to an affiliate link, but I have to mask the sub-domain so that my display url and destination url are identical. Is this possible? I know how to do it with the entire domain, but don't know how to do it with sub-domains. Is there a php script or anything that could help me with this?

sorry I don't have the code, but mod_rewrite can definitely do that for you

If anybody is interested I found out how to do it without a script, in godaddy from domain management you can create a submdomain and enable forwarding and masking.
