I bought a domain about a year ago and when I finally got it indexed and checked the SEO plugin for Firefox, it said the domain was registered in 2002--i.e. I accidentally purchased an aged domain (or so I thought).
The problem is this: it seems the SEO plugin for Firefox just uses the Way Back Machine to see if there has ever been a site on that domain. In my case there had been--in 2002 up until 2005 or so--then the site was taken down and no one had the domain until I reg'd it.
Does this count as aged? Or does the domain have to be in the same hands/registered for one solid period of time? If this DOES NOT count as aged--then why the hell is something like the Way Back Machine being used to gauge domain age for such a popular FF SEO plugin? :/
