Learning right. Anyway, I jumped in with a couple direct links on a site offering a good amount of traffic. CPM is they way they work. so, I give it a try. $.70cpm, x 207,000 impressions = right about $145. so far, only one $8 conversion. Not good.

I had two offers going. Both had almost the same exact number of impressions, and clicks. Which would say that one is not doing horrible, while the other is going alright. Both are hurting right now. I'm at at just above 1% conversion rate, but the CPM side is killing me. At this rate, it needs to be WAY less then .7 with what I'm doing. So..I change what I'm doing.

I've paused the two ads, and started a third. This will give the opportunity to see if something else performs as well, or hopefully better. What I'm looking for at this point, is just to validate the traffic vs. clicks. I mean, if campaigns 1 2 and 3 do all the same, It would seem I'd need to look elsewhere for a cause.

Traffic is targeted to my requests demographically, or so they say.
I know CPM has to get cheaper.
any other suggestions?

they don't offer CPC. so, CPM is my only choice. 207,000 impressions, 103 clicks (.05%) , and 1 conversion (1%).

I know I need to run campaigns a little longer to get a good feel.... but, money is limited at the time, so I need to monitor well, and make it count.

This is actually my issue with CPM...They promise you insane amounts of impressions but who really knows how they target the traffic... If money is tight, running CPM is pretty risky. I find CPC to be a safer way to go.

With only 1 conversion, I doubt you can say much about the conversion rate.

When starting out, you might want to try CPC instead of CPM as it is a lot less riskier. With a 1% conversion, you're paying around 1.45 a click which is pretty high.
Unless you have a lot of money, you might want to look for a cheaper niche where the cost is lower. That will give you room for more clicks, and thus better testing.

Also, I'm assuming that you're using banners as its CPM? If you're using the already available creatives, you might want to look at making your own. In my experience the network creatives always end up being shit.

Jamie. I agree now, but I found an opportunity, and thought I would try.

Korrupt. apparently I'm running a bad one. Really, it should be a good deal, and I could tolerate a 1% conv, if it was CPC.

Xtreme. 1 conversion, is not much to go off of. But, I have to start somewhere to find the stuff that can work. I actually had 1 conversion after just 5 clicks. but I haven't had one since then. It is only $1.45 per click, which is high, I admitt. But, once again, because of CPM, that is actually $145.00 per conversion. Not good in any situation. There also, isn't a price difference in niche. It's not like I'm paying for keywords. This is a random impression. Creating my own creatives is the next step. The only reason i didn't start that way, is the existing creatives looked good for the target market, and with working a full time job, I didn't have the time to get it going in the time frame I was shooting for.

And now, I guess because I wasn't willing to blow $10,000 to start the campaign (the original amount they wanted me to start with), after asking to make some changes, this is the response I got. "but this is the last alteration I can make to this campaign as is."
