I'm curious to know what some of the advantages/disadvantages are of throwing up a landing page on one of your existing "flagship" sites, vs. registering a throwaway domain for a specific campaign.

I'm certainly not an expert on QS, but it would seem that an aged, authoritative site would fair better with bid prices as a result, or does it not matter? If it does help, would it only work on offers relevant to the niche of the site?

For instance:

MyFinancialSite.com/financial-offer-that-rules

vs.

MyFinancialSite.com/Acai-gets-you-laid

Also, are you running a risk with losing some of the sites' authority (in Google's eyes) by running LP's from that domain?

Curious to know what people's experience on this subject are.

If possible - try to stay relevant to the domain you're using, but if you have the choice between an aged domain and a new one (with similar name relevancy), go for the older / one with backlinks.

In the eyes of Google Adwords, you will be off to a better start with an aged domain that has some backlinks (one that is a "site") vs. a brand new one that needs to prove "worthy" of QS. Unless of course you have used the old domain before on Adwords and have been slapped with it.

Slapped domains (regardless of age and authority) seem almost impossible to revive into good standing and in those cases it's better to start a new.

I have had several experiences now where some pages were slapped to shit after putting them on a fresh new name. Then, when I uploaded them to an older domain where I have backlinks, a blog, etc. - they get approved right away with very high QS (and stayed there). ;)
