"... Schmidt will assume the role of executive chairman of Google, “focusing externally on deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership, ...”

I love it! The guy who said "So, you can just move, right?" in response to privacy concerns re: Streetview is now going to be the point-man for Govt outreach and technology through leadership... lulz

.

So what the hell is the sense in moving these guys around? I cant remember the last time I saw CEO move to another position (other than a guy with a large amount of stock & options) when someone else comes in. What the hell is the point to making a move like this? Internal power struggle? Publicity? Or is it just a simple change in one of there shares ie.. voting power. To me this is a weird situation. And its a strange press release

It's a graceful way for the CEO to step down into retirement over time without the stock price taking the usual plummet.

No , doubt google is king in advertisements for most of the people across the world. Even they are leaders in search engines.

Lets hope new CEO will get some good news for advertisers.
