I went to school for business so i really don't have any knowledge of programming. I'm not computer illiterit but reading through alot of posts by SEO's like Bluehat makes me realize just how little i really know, especially when it concerns writing scripts. I know that there is no easy way of making money online and i am willing to do the work to get to that level. Basically what is the path that i need to take to become knowledgable in programming and what languages are most useful? I know that i should learn MySQL but that you need to learn more basic languages first. Any online sources would be very helpful or if you guys know of any useful starter books to buy.

Thanks for the info!

No, you're just illiterate in general!

Hah, I'm so clever.

Anyways, I suggest taking a gander at PHP Tutorial (or any of the other hundreds of PHP guides online). Might set you in the right direction before you shell out $30-40 for a book.

business degree not what you thought it'd be? Just curious, I've been thinking about going.

No it was definitely worth it. I landed a pretty good starting job and am starting my MBA in marketing. I just want to monetize websites on the side, sort of as a hobby I guess to have a little extra cash if anything works out. And yes i am a dumbass... out of any word to spell wrong illiterate is probably the worst.

First learn html

Then learn the concept of Relational Databases which will help you understand what they are talking about when you start diving in to Structured Query Language (SQL)

Then take a gander at OOP and Scripting Languages and get familiar with what ASP and PHP are.

If you are a Windows guy like I started off as, read this book first and then try your hand at VBScript, Perl and/or PHP just to get the concepts down.

This isn't necessarily the best way to go, but it's similar to the path that brought me to this moment here.

One caveat: The more you learn, the more you lust to learn more.

+rep, good work

The guy teaches you through videos and I'm actually learning it pretty quickly. There are like 13 free videos, and then he has some paid courses as well. I am working my way through that in my spare time.

Wow, that's pretty cool actually.
