It's really much more than I want. I'm looking for something much simpler to use as an adjunct for another site...something more like the blog function in Myspace.
Yeah, I am wanting to offer them to the users of my site. But simple blogs where I control everything except the articles, not ones with tons of options like regular wp blogs.

Listen to LazyHippie. How about Wordpress MU with a stock set of themes and plugin options - No javascript, warz, adult, etc. just exactly what wordpress.com offers. Not that hard if that is what your market wants.

Check out wordpress. You can give everyone a stock theme and not let them edit it.
Also check out buddypress.org . It's in heavy development right now, but it looks like exactly what you want.
