Aw c'mon. I made the post in perfect appreciation of how much of a noob I am. I even used the "newbie alert" icon.
I've been spending weeks reading and preparing, and launched a site yesterday. It's nice to see things finally start moving, that's all.

I created an AJAX smiley generator. I've seen AJAX image generators, and smiley generators, but I think mine is the first AJAX smiley generator.
All I did was put up an adsense block on the front page, and sidebars and footers on the gallery pages. Then I submitted it to a bunch of directories and submitted a Digg story, and put it in my sig on a forum. It made it to 3 news sites; CSS Drive, a French site, and a Chinese site. 250ish uniques so far.
So, this is totally whitehat, trying to keep it legit. But that doesn't mean I can't learn stuff from you guys, especially for other sites I make.

Anyway, I created an AJAXified smiley generator named ezSmiley. You can Google it, it's at the top. Mine is the first "live" smiley generator that I know of. You click, it makes a live update to the smiley. One website likened it to a Mr. Potato Head, which is actually not a bad analogy.
Anyway, I just used a 200x200 block at the top left of the busiest area on the main page. In the smiley gallery, I put a sidebar and a footer bar. That's it.
I think it moderated me because I posted a domain name, even though I didn't linkify it.

Are you talking over a 24 hour period, or just until you posted? Or for the time you worked?
If you're talking over a 24-hour period:
$1.68 x 60 x 60 x 24 = $145,152.
$145,152 x 365 is something on the order of 53 million dollars projected earnings for a year. Pretty baller.

Ignore the fact that the thread is kinda n00bish, and you'll find a pretty sweet site on the other side of that link.
Good work, Supergeek. Now move quickly before others catch up to you, so that you can push the entire "first live smiley generator" thing. Add more smiley-making options, change the title to something more convenient and keep improving it & adding links.
If you keep working on it, this could grow into a stable, profitable site.

I gotta agree with MisterX. This guy might be a newb on WF, but the site he is showing us is a well designed, fine tuned, money-maker. Nothing newb about it.
Smart placement of the adsense block, clean focused page -- very nice work Supergeek. I am impressed.
Keep in mind, he made $1.68 without buying traffic. The only unfortunate thing about it is that I don't see anyway that multiplying the effort will multiply the return. I'm sure Supergeek will come up with more income generating ideas though.
