Why Email Marketing?
I like using an autoresponder to make some cash monies. Email marketing is the SHIT. Here's why:
1. Once you got the lead into your database, you can market to them over and over again (obvious shit)
2. High ROI -- small time autoresponder service is cheap cheap, so it isn't hard to make your money back plus some beer monies, ya dig?
3. It's set and forget: (obviously shit) once you found a winning offer, you don't have to work on it. Let the autoresponder do the grunt work.
For example, I advertise on youtube (w00t) for a online RPG game that makes me 50 cents per download. I'm making $2 a day -- nothing ground breaking, but I can get myself a cheap hooker at the end of the month. (Plus, it took 2 hours to set up, heh)
Setting up the opt in page
My opt in pages vary between 35 to 60 percent. (opt in page is the page where people opt in to your mailing list ... duh). We all know double your dating site, right? It's an good example of an opt in page:
-> http://www.doubleyourdating.com/channels/articles/
Try to emulate it and you should do fine. Aim for 35 percent opt in rate, and gradually test your head lines and bullet points to move it up towards 40-50 percent.
Sending dem the emails:
So -- for example, say you got a list of freebie seekers. You send them zip submits or free downloads.
I usually write 3 emails selling the same offer, then I move on to the next. Here's the format:
Email #1: Introduce the offer, it's cool shit. So sign up for it or whatever.
Email #2: Tell a story related to the offer, soft sell that shit.
Email #3: Last call for offer, tell them to do it now before it's too late. Also, mention that you got another offer coming up in the next email.
What kind of autoresponder should you pick?
Of course, guys who have 100k leads makes my head spin. I use small time autoresponder service (not self hosted) because it gets through the spam filter.
I personally use Aweber because of high delivery rate and ease of use. You could use your own mailing system but it's kinda technical and the delivery rate isn't as high as those Aweber or Getresponse or whatever.
Use Aweber if you're just starting out. Use Getresponse if you got too much leads and don't wanna pay too much monies (cause Aweber new pricing plan is expensive IMO)
