Right?
27,478 impressions
86 clicks

I'm guessing my ads suck. I look at the ads that are currently running and try to emulate them. I don't just copy them outright but WTF?
It's a very competitive niche so I'm not worried about conversions here as I know 86 clicks isn't a good baseline but 27k impressions should get more clicks, no? This is on YSM btw and content is turned off.

Is there a good ad writing tutorial somewhere?
I'm obviously doing something wrong.

For Search Engine that's pretty low.

Just study ads, and make a shit ton of them. You don't always know what will be the best add. Test like 5 run it for a day or two. Take the best and test it vs 5 more... repeat.

My advice is use to attention grabbing keywords in the ads. Example, cheapest, hottest, greatest and FRee if possible, try few other things around that offer

a pretty average ctr for me is around 5%-10%. You need to make sure your ads are relevant to your keywords and that they are getting the correct message across.

i.e don't put up an ad on oranges when you are bidding on keywords for dogs. I'm sure you know this though.

also limit how many keywords in your adgroup to 20-25 some people use less

Try asking a question in your headline, use benefits and all that mojo. And order a copy of "make your words sell". And never stop testing... My average CTR hovers between 10 and 20%.

I use competition only to get ideas, most of the time they suck, which is good for you, but bad if you want to copy them.

I can't remember the title of it, but I know the author was Douglas Rushkoff.
Anyway, this guy knows some REALLY good stuff about coercive selling techniques. And I don't mean the shitty eBook style. This guy was recommended reading in my PR/Marketing unit at Uni.
So yeah, try and get his books at your local library and have a read through... Best part is he's kind of entertaining at times, which is unusual for an academic work.

use excel or speed ppc to create 1 keyword per adgroup, making sure you stick the keyword in the headline. also, shorten up your domain. dont use "www.domain.com", everyone does this, so you need to stand out. use symbols too if possible. to have that many impressions and that low clicks usually indicates a non targeted campaign that needs more relevancy.
