We have little money left to spend on the marketing of Sport Clubs, Forums & News | Sporting Social Network | Ballz.com a new sports social networking site. We need to find ways to tell the world without spending very much money! …. before we can PR it to the likes of tech crunch and mashable etc ..

We’ve done most of the onsite SEO work we can and we are looking for some killer ideas to attract users to the site on a shoe string budget.

Can anyone help?

It’s a fantastically capable website to connect people of all sporting ability or disability. Users can personalise their own selection of sports (over 200 popular and niche sports available), meet friends, manage teams and leagz, listen to news and read about their favourite sports, blog and comment on sports they’re interested in, get mobile alerts and updates, find local sports facilities and services and shop for products for over 200 sports.

Thank you!

so what?

Make a banner / button for your fans to put on their website.
Make a blog, update frequently
Digg yourself heavily, add digg/reddit/stumble buttons on your articles
Article marketing. Write short articles to put on article directories

All of those cost nothing but labour.

You seem to be a private limited company based out of the UK and you don't have funds to market your website ?

Anyways, if you really need to take care of your eggs and your chickens. Listen to what emp has to say.

You may do the following...

- Directory Submissions (Be careful, be very Careful. Categories are both your friends and your foes, so use them wisely.)

- Setup a Blog and make sure you add at least one big post to it everyday. (Since you being a "WE" & not an "I" - as evident from your post, this shouldn't be a big thing). Spread link love to many sports blogger and get some in return. Refer to posts made by other bloggers in your posts frequently.

- Utilize social networks - Create a group/community with your sites name in almost every big social network and urge people to join it. From there on market your site to them. (Remember MARKET - not spam!)

- Social bookmarks and social websites like DIGG are your friends. Make sure you utilize them. (Again utilise - DON'T SPAM!)

- Begin with Bum Marketing (Read this report - Remember just read to get the basics & don't try to buy any of the bullshit he's trying to sell in there) - Modify it. In your case, you don't need niches, nor you require products to go with those niches. You already have a website that has a product database - SELL THEM!

Apart from these. Remember! Sport lovers are often lovers of Sports Controversies, as well!

Here's how you can benefit on them controversies -
- Subscribe via RSS to almost every Sports magazine and online portals and the Sports section of every major newspaper. Be the first one to write a report on these controversies and Submit to DIGG and the likes! When you're done... rinse and repeat!

- Make a list of previous inter-related controversies by various Clubs or Countries or Players or Coaches or Managers or Teams. Prepare a nice List-Like Post, cite your sources. When you're done Submit to DIGG and the likes! (Unlike the earlier option, don't get too frequent on this ones since it'd basically saturate the content of your site.)

All this should get you considerable sports oriented traffic and make good for the business you've begun.

Wish you all the best!

Grr... I hate fuckers like these. I wasted my time writing an elaborate post depicting a root level marketing model for them which can be achieved without any investment. And these assholes are found spamming other forums for the same.

Note to Self - NEVER EVER help a 1-post-wonder for things other than the forum usage. Anarkist will now help Genuine users ONLY!

Also, I won't let my effort go waste - Time for an Idea!

@HarveyJ - Update this thread in 5 mins and see what I mean!

Anarkist - great post man. No doubt the OP won't be here to appreciate it, but I did. Rep.
