Hello folks,

A few friends and I are starting a new type of sweepstakes site. While our backgrounds are in social media marketing and software development, the site seems to be perfect for affiliate marketing.

That said, I don't know squat about affiliate marketing or how to get affiliates promoting our site. I don't even know how to structure a relationship with affiliates. Should I offer our affiliates a fixed dollar amount for each person they bring who buys into the sweepstakes? Should I give the affiliate a percentage of the amount we earn from that client? Do I need multiple referral tiers?

I am vaguely familiar with affiliate program directories and I know I can post there to reach affiliate marketers. That said, I think our offer is potentially much more compelling than other sweepstakes sites and I don't want to just copy everyone else.

Everything here on this forum seems to be about helping affiliates promote their own sites. Where can I find advice about marketing to the marketers?

You can use clickbank or commission junction to get more information in regards to that. Now I know some affiliates *cringe* when they hear clickbank, but that aside, it is one of the most widely used sites for affiliates. As far as what you want to offer, precentages of the sale are usually good. Being able to track what affiliates bring you the most customers you might also think about putting in a bonus incentive based on the number of new customers acquired during a single month. Anyway, hope this helps and best of luck to you.
