Massive amount of views overnight. Banning ip ranges.

This morning, my logs show 1600 outgoing clicks to 1600 different products from 82.101.170.180.

The same ip has also viewed a similar number of products on my site.

How can I tell if my site is being scraped?

Is there an easy way to ban an ip if they view (for example) more than 40 products?

Would a php scrip be able to edit .htaccess and add a deny from clause?

I beleive there's Apache security mod, AntiDDoS that does exactly that - for n* attempts will write the IP into iptables.
and it could be done with .htaccess
