Hey all,

Ok, my name is Don and I am here in search of help and knowledge. I am unable to work and in limbo waiting for govt can deny my disability claim for help that I have already paid for. lol. nother subject haha. Anyway, I have had no income since august 07 and am about to lose everything. I raise my grand daughter so this is especially hard.

To be honest, I need help. I need someone to help me understand the internet marketing and get going so I can get some income streams coming in. I spent what little money I didn't have to spend on a few ebooks and ebook packs to only find I got out dated or scam material. All of which did nothing but confuse me more.

I know it is being done, hell, most of you are probably very successful at it.

I really need someone compassionate to step up and help save my family.

This is the only thing I have been able to come up with that I can do here at home and maybe make enough money to save our home etc. I don't understand it all and am having trouble getting started and knowing what to do.


So please, I need all the help I can get. It can be several of you or what ever. I am here ready to go, just need guidance.

I want to thank you all ahead of time for your patience and understanding. I am a NOOB, a cherry. But, more important I really am desperate and need to make this work. I just want to say thanks now from my family to yours.

Don, I do not mean to stamp on your enthusiasm and drive, which you clearly have plenty of - something which I have heard from a lot of the senior members here is to start by reading through the droves of information here.

As I have found out, nobody is going to hold your hand through this, start with the stickied threads in the newbie section, read, read and read some more. Personally I then went to the archives and read again, however - sometimes actually trying something out will teach you more than any guide or manual.

Get yourself a host, a niche domain (Something your interested in is a great start), signup to Google Analytics, Adsense and AdWords.

Start some guerilla marketing, grab links from wherever you can get them - just really get out there and explore what can happen when you do something and dont just sit on your ass.

EDIT: Something I found that has helped me is to concentrate on one area of interest, for me it was PPC w/ Affiliate Offers. There is loads you can do to make money, just dont try to do them all!.. You know what they say, Jack of all trades.. master of none! :P
 
This is my first post, but perhaps I can offer you some advice. Based on your current situation, you already have a niche market. There are probably tens of thousands of English speakers who are currently in a similar situation as you. If money is tight, start with a free web host like blogger or something similar. I am not terribly familiar with others.

I found your post rather touching, and I have a feeling that you discussing your current situation in great detail would be very beneficial. You could integrate a donation link with Paypal after your first couple articles. An ad-based support forum could stem from this as well.

The options are out there you just have to be willing to keep testing to see what works. Keep reading this site, and then give it your best shot.

What they said. Read everything here and stay away from the ebooks.

If I were starting over again, and I needed quick cash to fund a project, I'd offer to write articles.

You seem intelligent and articulate, and you can write well enough. It would be a natural for you. It would also be a way to add some immediate cash to your bank account.

If you produce good content at a decent price (not too cheap, nor too expensive), and you're dependable and fast, you can make enough money over the course of a month to pay a few bills, fund a small PPC campaign, and build a couple of niche sites. The idea would be to use this seed money to ratchet yourself into something much more substantial.

It's hard work, writing that much, but if you're up to it, it's one of the fastest ways to make a small something from absolute nothing on the internet.

Despite my natural pessimism questioning the legitimacy of the OP, I'm going to have to agree with Del - start writing articles. You sound quite literate, and if you can research things on Google, you'll be able to get the hang of it. There are a number of threads around here describing how to get started content writing (appropriate rates, etc).

Also, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this - consider applying at the WF Case Study 2008 if you haven't already.

elime: "natural pessimism questioning the legitimacy of the OP" I really not sure what that means? I thank you for your comment and would love to join and be apart of the study, I have to try and meet the req's. first.

I think Del's idea is a very good one. What is frustrating is there is allot of information out there. Understanding that information or how to utilize it and putting things in motion in the right way and order is difficult.

Some sort of step by step guides for each type of program is something I think would be great. i am sure they are there I have not found them yet. I think I need the abc's or roadmap to successful article writing, so how do i start, what do i read first etc.

I know i need a webhost and a domain. I am thinking it will be a general one to start so that i can get established and get some stuff up etc. what do you think..

anyway, I am very sincere when I say thank you and keep it coming, this is exactly what i need. Positive good guidance and directions.

I was very skeptical and worried that people would take it the wrong way and not understand that I am seriously just seeking help and guidance to try and help myself and my family. Yes, there are allot, thousands of families just like ours that need help. I am trying to find that help, that way. I think i have found a new home here and hope that some of you can continue to help me on my way.

And yes, rest assured you are helping to save my family, and karma is real. I thank you very much.

Thoughts on domain. How does it work. You get the original domain name and host package. The subdomain are ones that you then make up: subdomain.yourdomain.com and u can make as many of those u want for campaigns etc. obviously better to just have the domain name xxxx.com. I assume if you buy another domain name that you can also host pages for it on your host? not sure there.

plus, since i do want to do some other things down the road, have idea for small gift store for people in need of help, like our family etc. lots of us out there. would like to give back for them. but anyway.. little confused about the hosting and domains etc.

i really appreciate all your support...
