Last month I dropped Alertra and went with two free options, host-tracker.com and mon.itor.us... well host-tracker.com seems okay, but mon.itor.us straight up sucks.

All week it's been sending me downtime alerts that have me running to the computer just to see nothing is wrong. I've thought it was just shitty monitoring, but I got my proof today. Three times I received alerts for 2 different servers at the same time (and another one I use as a control)... and at the time I got these alerts I was logged in to both servers. They obviously weren't down, but the mon.itor.us e-mails conveniently said:

Experiencing too much downtime or does your current Tech Support lack experience? Switch over to Crucial Paradigm to receive up to a 50% discount when moving from an existing host.

What a fucking scam.

I'll probably go back to Alertra, but I need another free option if anyone has any suggestions...

Okay, so I just created 3 separate accounts for each server I monitor and I'm not longer getting alerts for the servers that are fine, just the one currently having issues. I'm not sure if this is a bug in the system that sends out alerts for all servers under the account if one has a problem or if there is some weird setting I accidentally enabled...

Has anyone else had this issue or have a fix?

I use them at work, my problem was more along the lines of it NOT alerting us.
Stupid thing is, it just sends a ping.

So if your site is dead to the user (takes forever to load or does not load at all), mon.itor.us does not react.

Writing my own tracker now.

Pingdom ftw. Sign up for their 1 month free trial, at the end of which they give you the option to upgrade to their basic plan for only $39/yr, which is an absolute steal.

Another option is Wormly which is great too.

That's just what I was looking for, thanks. I think I could just replace alertra with them.
