I need some ideas on how to monetize traffic when the users are CPA's (Accountants). I think this would be a hard one because, by nature, they are rather 'frugal'.
I'm open for any ideas on what to push to a group in this area.

Don't know about CPA's but perhaps you could indirectly market to their clients some CC and/or Debt Consolidation, even money management software (Quicken, MS Money, etc)...

For them... Try Golf offers or something like that.

is there an affiliate program for hookers and pocket protectors?

Have you thought about merchandise?
Accountants are pretty bored people, so they like little executive toys on their desks.
A friend of mine was working at NTAA (National Taxation Agents Association) and half the poeple there had gotten onto the USB Rocket Launcher craze, The Cubes™, and pretty much anything from ThinkGeek :: Stuff for Smart Masses

I'm certain you'd be able to find affiliate programs for some of those items.

i think you can get signups for netsuite or one of the other online accounting packages . . .

Almost all accountants need Continuing Education credits to maintain their CPA status.

From wikipedia:

Most states require attendance for a minimum number of hours annually (often 40 hours annually or 80 hours biannually) for appropriate continuing professional education (CPE) to maintain a CPA license.
Two-tier states do not usually require CPE to maintain a CPA certificate. However, all members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants must undertake CPE as a condition of AICPA membership.

see if you can find a Continuing Education provider that has an affiliate provider. Or if you have enough traffic, contact the providers directly to buy targeted advertising from you.

Quickbooks software for keeping the books is the choice of most for small biz and they often set it up and train the client to maintain. Legal programs they could refer to such as LegalZoom to set up a quick LLC online. Also, financial planning software and programs. Whatever you do in the copy, make sure you show the savings/time/money benefit in their language and make a case what you promote. I'm from a family of CPA's and they sticklers for detail. Drives me CRAZY!
