Does anyone know of or have any good method for monetizing WP installs with adsense or any types of affiliate programs? I am actually talking about page layouts, because I've been having trouble coming up with a good method. You can see one of my WP attempts at monetization at: MacBookGuru.com

It just doesn't look very clean and I feel it's not well integrated into the blog. Does anyone here have a WP blog they'd be willing to post for me to look at and perhaps provide some constructive feedback/criticism on my blog's monetization efforts?

Your blog is very new and in such a saturated market it's ridiculous, but I have some ideas. I've run several decent sized monetized blogs in the past and just started another one 4 months ago that is bringing in 2k per month. A few generic things you'll have to do are:

Engage your reader base by making it an interactive environment. Provide them with NEW and timely info, especially being it's a mac site and everyone else also has a mac blog. Ask them for their thoughts or comments. DL the Threaded Comments plug in so they can thread and respond to each others comments. Get a less cheesy theme. Selectively submit to social bookmark sites. Get a contact us page. Fill in your About Us page. Join MBL (even tho it's shit, it gets you traffic). Don't sell so hard - Your 2nd post ever is already trying to sell... you have to build rapport & credibility first, then sell. Your topic makes it hard to monetize via adsense b/c CPC will be low.

Forgot to mention - read johnchow.com for monetizing a blog. although the quality has decreased a bit lately, a lot of his earlier material is excellent.

Another vote for posts on JohnChow.com. I stumbled upon his site last summer through a DigitalPoint forum post and have been a regular reader ever since. I also agree that he's focused too much on making money off his own blog and the quality of the posts has suffered as a result. But if you go to the "Top Posts" section, there's some good reading to be found.
