Myspace billing error...

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem...

Last night, my cc was mysteriously declined on MySpace myAds. I've tried 4 different Amex cards and they keep getting declined and my account becomes disabled and all my campaigns get paused.

I've been on the phone with Amex twice and they are seeing multiple ~$1k approvals every day and there all my Amexs are in good standing.

Seriously WTF?? This is annoying as fuck. I can get my campaigns back but ONLY until they try to charge me again, at which point the cc gets denied again.

I think MySpace billing is fucked up but I'm not sure if it's just me. Is anyone else having a similar issue?

I'll probably ask the same question to any MySpace advertisers downstairs at the WF meetup in an hour. ;)

Wow... this exact same thing just happened to me. AMEX mysteriously declined and now my account is disabled. WTF? I've had no issues previously.

Same thing happened to me - I was able to update the card with another account, BUT traffic has not restarted. I normally hit about 4-5K a day, the ad CTR is .35%. so strange not to see any traffic. I assume someone has to push a magic reset button somewhere, and they are not doing it. Sucks when this stuff happens on a Friday and kills a whole weekend.

OK, well I hate to see this happen overall, but I'm glad to know i'm not the only one.. and of course it has to happen while I'm in Vegas. =)

Yes I'm hoping there is a magic reset button as well, so we'll see what happens tomorrow I guess.

Time to start drinkin' and head downstairs to the WF meetup.

yeah happened to me too, called my card and they said that they didn't see any reason why my card would have been declined

and me and i'm not even running any campaigns with them right now!

i'm wandering off to check my statements this shit is f*cked for sure

god knows what they are up to now. they had no reason to bill my card anything i am all paid and up to date.

they really need to sort this out.

I have the same problem, but I looked into it further and it seems like it's even worse. A couple of people mentioned that their transaction at the CC company were approved. I also called a few of my CCs and they said the transactions were approved as well. I asked if they would appear on my statement, and was told that if the merchant (MySpace) goes and tries to accept payment, then they would. If they drop it for 4 days, the amount would not go through. Well, sure enough, today, I see all of the amounts on my statement. We're talking a total of about $15,000 now, since I tried to enter new CCs about 15 times.

I also have one debit card I tried with (3 times), MySpace also declined that card, but those amounts went through right when they were tried. Considering I (and many of you probably) have multiple accounts with MySpace because of their genius 100 campaign limit, it's gonna be a pain in the ass to try to figure which account made which charge, and then to go back to MySpace to claim these amounts would be even worse.

Sigh... seems like it's MySpace Overcharges Round 2

Please go back and check your CCs guys, see if you've been overcharged as well.

I'm having the same issue. No problems with charges according to CC companies (I've received the error on 2 cards).

I sent them an email yesterday. They replied today with a generic response about looking into it.

These bastards tell me I'm spending x2 of what P202 shows (with all clicks selected). When I email them, they're giving me bullshit responses. If they don't fix this, I'll just stop using myads.

....calling in the morning
For those of you that have been getting charges posted to your cc account statements, but not on the myspace billing page, I'd highly recommend not trying to update your card as they are firing off charges with each update. Getting pretty ridiculous w/ these guys

A canned response that everybody should have already or will be receiving:

Thank you for advertising with MySpace MyAds. We recently implemented a change in our billing system that may have affected your account between 6:00 pm PST on 01/09/2009 and 10:00 am PST on 01/11/2009. As a result, our billing system may have inadvertently declined your credit card and placed your account in a status of system paused. We are currently working on getting all affected accounts back to an active status.
You may also see pending transaction(s) on your credit card or bank statement for this same time period. Please note this does not mean you have been overcharged. This is money that is held by your bank that MySpace did not collect due to an error caused by the change in our billing system. It is at your bank’s discretion as to when the pending charges are released. Typically banks release pending charges between 7 – 10 days or upon customer request.

Thank you for your continued use of MySpace MyAds.

For what it's worth, I have been informed that we should be back to business as usual effective Jan 13th. Yah...so uhmm who's 1st to jump back in?

OK, so I met with the MySpace guys on 2 separate occassions at ASW, even had drinks with Steve who runs myAds. He was profusely apologetic about the billing issues and said it's was a large technical problem with new features they were rolling out with PaymenTech. Usually I call BS on these things but the guy was totally sincere and very open with what had happened.

It's unfortunate for everyone and trust me, I was pissed off - but a big part of this boils down to poor communication which I think is the biggest problem.

All I know is that after meeting Steve (and my acct rep Lisa) at ASW and chatting with them and other affiliates in their hospitality suite, they're less of a faceless corporation than they used to be. Of course, it remains to be seen that something like this won't happen again.
