Last night I switched my domain over from one host to another. Normally when I do this its instant.

But now, when I go on my domain it says

Welcome to the home of blahblah.com To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory

So I assumed the DNS change had already taken place. So, I used an autoinstaller (softaculous) to install wordpress. Long story short, few hours later I'm still getting the good ol

Welcome to the home of blahblah.com To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory

I checked to make sure WP is actually installed correctly, and sure enough it is.

Does this simply mean the DNS has propagated yet? Is namecheap taking like 24 hrs + for anyone else? Help me out bros

If blahblah.com is your new host then yes DNS has updated. What control panel do you use?

If cPanel, you need to add the domain and create a directory for it. I suspect that's not done and that's why you see a blank, parked type page.

I'm on direct admin, and I've already added the domain and created a directory for it. Jesus, this is weird. Thanks for helping thom +rep

Ok, sent in a support ticket, and heres what was wrong.

I needed to delete the index.html file since html files get read first before .php (wordpress files). So, just delete that file, and bam, works like a charm. I guess in cpanel its automatically deletes the index.html file, but in DA it doesn't.

lol fail

that's pretty common knowledge :-/ even if you didn't know that .HTML precedes .PHP extensions (on Apache/Litespeed AFAIK) you could have at least looked in the index.html file and have seen that it was the same as the default text you were seeing

Yes, and as punishment I will not masturbate for 3 whole days!:xmas-smiley-010:

Haha, I did something similar a few years back. I inadvertently copied an index.htm with a metarefresh into the directory of a new site when i started building it. I couldn't work out how when I accessed the new site by IP, as the domain was still on the old dns, it went straight to the old site with the url in the address bar.

I was literally throwing stuff in anger!

Yep, sometimes the simplest stupidest shit can become so frustrating its makes you want kill someone. Ah well, transfered all my shit today successfully so its all good :)
