Hey, I'm a web designer and former webmaster (about 8 years ago I got into some affiliate programs like Commission Junction, and I also had a greeting card site with Mailbits).

Now that I'm trying to get back into the affiliate scene, what are some of the up-and-coming ways to succeed these days? What programs are good? I am highly motivated, and I know from past experience what kind of hard work it takes to actually get something good going, but I don't really know what works now. Things are really different now.

Anyone have some ideas or tips for me?

Do a search for all the affiliate marketing networks/programs, set up your accounts and get busy :)

Hey I just read your post... good questions.
I am pretty much a noob when it comes to this stuff but I have had some success with a newsletter put out by Woody Maxim. He used to be in the porn industry untill his 5year old ask what "that girl was doing" . So he reformed and decided to make a newsletter. Anywho he mentions a company called regnow.com a digital river company who from what I see and expierence have some great software that people really like.

Aside from that if you are into Affiliate Marketing, I have one tactic that I saw on the Affiliate Marketer of the year hosted by Russle Brunson. He made a recommendation on his blog (dotcomsecrets.com - I think) and aside from pinging he drove traffic through link building.... cleared about 7 grand in a week.

There you go a noob that does have his feet wet but I don't have the time as my military schedule has picked up and I sit on my ass every chance I get with my computer....not very often.

Think you could help me? I have a website in mind but I need to wait for the script to be released. It will be in php format and I have another script that will set up an automatic traffic through a crons job. Also how do I learn about all this website stuff or get a big picture on how the files work together?:xomunch:

Like this: My host has a Cpanel - what is that? What is a Crons JOB anyway? What is a htaccess file? What is a parked domain and what is the main domain and how do you link them together? Also what does MySQL do for you?..... yadayadayada. That is the bullshit I want to learn. Where do I start? A lot of it seems simple yet soooo complicated...ofcourse make money to.:)
 
cPanel - The most common Control Panel and probably the most powerful as well. cPanel allows you to manage every aspect of your website from it.
Cron Job - To be simplistic about it, a cron job will execute a command at the time frame you set.

Just go to wikipedia and search all your questions. The answers are all there.
