i decided to try my hand at promoting ringtones last week, so i just picked the highest payout i could find and started trying shit. as of now i haven't done any ppc and everything has been on myspace. i made a few accounts and threw up some pictures of hot girls, copied some stuff from other people's profiles so they'd look at least somewhat believable and started adding some people. i posted different bulletins such as "i need help with a project, message me if you wanna help" shit like that and a bunch of losers always reply and i tell them i'm advertising a ringtone site for a business class and i need to get ___ signups. sometimes i (as the girl) offer to make them a fan sign or a pic comment or something in return for them doing it and then just block them after they do it

i'm using the flycell offer and i probably spend about 2 hours a day replying to messages. was wondering if anyone could give me some tips about pushing ringtones or if you see any way to speed up what im doing now. thanks

tell those guys on myspace youll give em BJs . If you charge enough you can make tons of money.

The only way to scale that would be bjs and willingness to take it up the ass.

lol if that's actually a serious suggestion, i could offer something like that and then just block them after they sign up and not deliver. but it seems so ridiculous that they'd know it was bullshit

Hrm, kinda sounds like something I started many years ago: starting PPV sites, and then posting profiles to free dating sites, making sure to list the site's URL in the the profile's text. If someone sent a message, I'd make sure "the girl" responded with a message about her website.

Ultimately, I realised my hourly rate elsewhere paid much better. Kinda like when I wrote a program to generate tarot readings and sold them on eBay. Still think there might be money in that one...

be careful not to pass the myspace referer to the affiliate network. nobody wants myspace traffic anymore.

everything is redirected through my domain since myspace blocks affiliate links anyway. why dont they like myspace traffic tho?

Cause it's generally kids who aren't paying the bills, their parents get pissed and do chargebacks or take it up with the phone company who then take it up with the ringtone company.

That said, congratulations on taking the plunge and trying something out that's working for you.
Might I suggest getting a proxy router though. Eventually, if there are enough complaining morons, MySpace will have you figured & fingered and will block your IP.

MySpace is very good about tracking back links and what affiliate network they came from.

Typically when MySpace contacts the affiliate network, the offending affiliate is quickly terminated and not paid.

Bottomline, MySpace traffic is very bad for affiliate traffic, unless you are purchasing advertising space.

so ya'll think i should stop the myspace thing? what else is there for ringtones, just ppc'ing?

You can definitely make money using myspace. It is completely against their terms and conditions though. Not only do you risk not getting paid if you are caught, you risk getting terminated from the network you are using. Which then makes it harder to join other CPA networks cause they all talk to each other when an affiliate gets terminated.

Myspace just loves to screw you so watch out. I have had a viral Myspace idea I had been thinking of trying out.

Could be real big if it is done the right way.

At least you are trying something. Use the money you make to not do what you are doing before you get burned if you are violating Myspace terms though.

If you are going to mess with myspace like that be sure to use proxies, anon emails, masked affiliate id's, offshore hosting, ect...

They are on a lawsuit rampage right now

if i was you i would quit wile you ahead myspace isnt anything to fuck around with they get sue happy and start suing than youll get banned

and there other ways to make money with ring tones just search this FORUM

and ring tones are not for noobs !!!

If you do get terminated without payment, its not really that much of a loss. Your cost for doing this is $0 and all you'll lose is your myspace account and some sales. Not a big deal if they are basically free. Depends on how valuable your time is to you I guess.
