Would it be profitable for me to register a .net and .co.uk domain for a name of someone that has over 9 million searches on google?

I have never bought a domain or such before so don't know if it is worth spending the money on as i don't know how to make a site. Sorry about being a newb any advice is appreciated.

Depends on the word, the keywords, how competitive the market is, how you play the keywords, etc. just because a word or such has had a lot of hits, doesn't exactly mean you'll payout just having the name.

As far as being worth it? If you can't earn back in more than 10$, then it wouldn't be worth it.

And as far as not knowing how to make a site, one word: Wordpress.

Are you worried about someone simply copying you and starting a .net or .co.uk? If so yes, insurance rarely pays off in a monetary way.

If you're just trying to drive more traffic it might pick up a little in the UK search engines, but for Google in general it's probably not going to help.
