I am new to the web design and want to start my own site. Can someone recommend a good online place for help.

I'm just going to assume you're looking for design help sites, as the hosting side of things is relatively easy to figure out with google, but it depends on what you're trying to learn. Photoshop? Dreamweaver? Flash?

lynda.com is a good paid tutorial site that covers nearly all the basic design software you'll need to master. There are free alternatives, but lynda's video tutorial archive is really nice if you're that kind of learner. I'm also pretty sure that you can save any video off the site for later viewing, but that's not really, you know, legal.

Also try browsing Adobe.com for tutorials; they're not going to have everything you need there, but they occasionally have a cool lesson or two. They also have a pretty expansive archive of documentation for their software, which is very helpful if you start to get into actionscript or the like.
