I'm doing a research paper on the connections between those that use online porn vs online gambling and was hoping to find some information here. I expect to be flamed if there is some information here I haven't found yet, if there is I would appreciate anyone pointing me to the post(s).

Thanks in advance
Grant

So you want to know the connection ? It's obvious. Porn is used to promote the casino's by means of subliminal messages. This is a known fact that we marketers use everyday. When watching porn people are in an aroused state which is exacly the right time to insert a subliminal message. Read up on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) for more details.

I will probably get banned for letting this secret out but this is a gay webmaster forum anyway.

All the info and examples can be found here. If you look closely or freeze frame at the right moment you can clearly see "Deposit now" and "Free 200% match bonus"

riddergrant: Well, at least you're prepared for flaming.
Honestly, most people here are going to give you useful info, either because they don't know as those aren't their niches, or because those niches are intensely difficult to profit from, and they don't want to be giving away secrets that are actually making money for them.

For a start, I'm going to point you in the direction of Douglas Rushkoff. I forget which book it is, but he does mention the way that porn and gambling are indeed inter-related by selling the ideals of a taboo.
Online or off, it relies on the same end-user / customer mindset... Accessing something that they normally cannot for whatever reason.

If I knewa bit more on the subject, I'd point you in the direction of some books on the psychology of gambling addicts and porn consumers, but I can only think of LexisNexus or Jstor as being decent places to get that info.
Downside is that you require subscriptions to both of those journal databases.
