phpbay site, how specific on products?

What's your opinion on this. I notice Rgordons site on used golf balls was just golf balls and not golf products. (I'm going to use his golf analogy. I'm not doing golf products)

Does everyone feel this is the best way. Dedicate a site to a small niche. How small a niche should it be. I would think golf bags would be too small. The golf balls is great because there a lot of brands.

The other side of the coin would be brand specific sites. Nike Golf Products?

Am I on the right track?
 


I tend to like brand specific product sites. Like nikegolfshoes.com or nikegolfballs.com etc.

I'm testing both right now. (I'm just waiting for a C&D from Ebay too!)

I'm just letting the results tell me which site/keywords to focus on.
 
Well have many different brand names as domains if one fails you have more. I have been doing it for a few months and no problem so far. But ya it is really easy to rank. Usually rank for the keyword with in 2-3 days and start to get organic traffic.

Golf balls site is just one of my sites. For my others i tend to use brsnd specific sites (fenderbluesjunioramps.com applelaptopshop.com)

I chose the domain Discount Golf Balls for the golf ball site b/c it is a phrase i decided i could rank for based on my research. Truth is, a Titleist Pro V1 specific site could have been just as good if not better....
