tri,

Well I would say that is has affected me a lot as 70% of my affiliate income was wrapped up in Player Rakeback at Party Poker. They paid and shut us down both for American players and affiliates. I still am doing alright with my Full Tilt rakeback players as they have now become the #2 biggest poker site in the US (Pokerstars#1). If you have any specific questions for me I will answer them here or via PM.

What gambling sites (not necessarily poker specific) are the big affiliates now. And are these also looking at shutting down soon too? If you're looking to just now get INTO some of these poker / casino / sports betting affiliates... where are some of the top places to go?

Ill be honest right now I'm not sure what I would do if I was trying to get in the gambling game. If your not in the US. Partys affiliate was really always good to me even though there support and my manager for the affiliate kind of sucked.

I'd look at doing some affiliates with some sites like Full Tilt, Absolute, and even though Pokerstars doesnt give you much it would always be good to havea good relationship with them for the future.

What I did when I was starting out was just refer some people from sites that I used for my own rakeback because I could get higher % with them. You really have to have a decent player base to get the best percentages.

Sportsbook are really questionable right now just like the poker stuff. And you might have seen Sportingbet selling for $1 to someone and a couple of arrests here and there. I never did much with sportsbetting as far as getting players to sign up. I did play however and there are some decent forums out there.

My best advice would be to start like an information site and as it grows in relation to sportsbetting start adding sponsors then maybe a forum. I know guys that started years and years ago and now they live off the forums money. But like I said I'm not much involved with Sportsbook stuff besides posting my plays on a few message sports forums.
