Ive been reading a lot about ppc coach and some people are saying that it is pretty much necessary to know html and php before you start it. In my case, i know neither, so would ppc coach basically be useless to me?

You dont need to know either (but HTML would help longterm), you get access to tools when you join that will auto gen landing pages for you.

You don't need to be able to code per se, but you'd need to be able to look at a very basic piece of code and know where to stick your affiliate link or append a variable to the end of a URL. You'd need to be able to ftp some scripts to your site, and follow some basic instructions about minor customizations etc. You're given the scripts, but it would help to have some basic idea of what they do. Having said that, for month 1 techniques, I never bothered to use their scripts, I just used Wordpress with a couple of plugins, it works even better (if you ever join, pm me here, I can point you in the right direction to get that working).

The learning curve is steep. There's a lot to learn as it is. Not know any html/php would be an additional difficulty, you you need to be at least somewhat technically minded and persistant, its not a cakewalk. But if you're ever going to succeed at AM you'll need to get some basic knowledge of these anyway. You can outsource most things, but inevitably at least minor hacking is required at times. Its not Arbitrage Conspiracy with bullshit promises of the easy riding gravy train to uberfuckwitry, the onus is on you to put in the hard work, but the help is there when you ask, whatever your level and how minor your difficulty.

Here's the head coach's answer to a similar question on PPC Coach a couple of days ago:

I knew very little about programming and html back when I started. BUT I taught myself how to do it because it just makes life a bit easier. It's not completely necessary though and you can get by without it, (via outsourcing or buying templates). Back to the original question though, you can flounder on your own, eating up all the mis-information out there, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't...

OR

You can become an active member here, asking questions, getting solid advice and shortening your learning curve by several months or even years.

[..] follow the ["Newbie Guide: Month 1"]. Post your questions here [forum]. If you don't get a response, email or pm me the link to the thread and I'll respond asap. You should consider buying this book as it's a solid foundation for your future in affiliate marketing:
[Building a Web Site For Dummies]

It's cheap and will give you a lot of good information. If you don't want to buy a book, then just google: "webpage tutorial" or "html tutorial" there are literally millions available online for free!

thats in an answer to the question "Did I jump too soon by joining? It seems like everyone here has a tech background"

do you think by just reviewing and learning basic html, ill be alright with ppc coach? im sure there are online sources which explain html in an easy to understand way

Yes, HTML semantics isn't like programming (run from any fucking idiot who refers to themself as an "HTML programmer"), you can pickup basic HTML concepts in a few hours and be able to look at and understand the basic markup structure of what the ppc-coach tools spit out.

This is true. It's also useful to learn xhtml at the same time you're learning html, because many of the markups have depreciated. XHTML is a more advanced markup language, and you'll have better results using it.

I'd say read up on PHP a little, you need to know enough to be able to understand what a script does. The landing page PHP script they had is quite simple, but it took me a couple of hours to get my head around it at first.

Also get used to using the web hosting cPanel - basic things like adding email accounts. The good news is there's a tutorial for pretty much anything you could possibly think of.

eg. how to setup email accounts in cpanel - Google Search

As easy as that most of the time. Good luck.
