Has anyone had any experience trying to promote ebooks? I'm completely new to IM and am looking to get into a first campaign. The network I've managed to get into doesn't have a whole lot outside of ebooks in terms of actual products to try and market, many of the offers being email/zip submits. There's a couple ebooks though that I feel I could make a decent landing page for and get enough information/keywords together to at least give it a shot, however I'm not sure what the general consensus is on them. I want to say I remember hearing that they don't sell very well, but I'm not sure where.

If this is your first campaign go for zip/email submits first....its much easier for someone to give his email address than his credit card.

The real money is in creating your own digital product not promoting it. Ignore the idiots who will have you spending the next 5 years selling diet pills.

The issue is to try to stay away from an ebook in the IM niche. The recipe for a successful info product:

1) Find a pressing problem in a money market - Health, Wealth, Relationships
2) Create some Solutions
3) Add fucking value! As an example, let's say you have some programming skills. Write a digital product on "7 Ways Small Businesses Can Improve Their Productivity Using These Simple PHP Scripts"

or whatever.....

Just recently, Amazon announced that they are selling more digital products than physical products.

The trick with digital products is you have a) add value b) build up a customer list c) sell to them over and over again....

Build a BUYING AUDIENCE first; create products FOR THAT AUDIENCE second....

Then you won't just be "making money" you will be building wealth....

PS
If you do try to promote someone else's product at least opt them in to your own list so you can start developing a relationship with them. Then you will be building assets for your self and not just chasing the one-off unique-visitor-buy day in and day out...

PLUS, your conversions will be higher....

Thought about doing that as well, but I've seen a good deal of negative talk about it here and elsewhere. Still may look into it though, payoffs are small but as you said, giving up an email is a lot easier than a credit card number.

Thanks a lot for that. A large prospect for a noobie like me, but really got me thinking.
