After starting out a year and a half ago with Bluehost, I recently went looking around for new hosting at the advice of a friend of mine. Near-constant CPU outages were causing problems with Bluehost, which PYSIH is sitting on. 90,000 or so monthly uniques on that site brought too much downtime and I was missing out on the $40 a month that the site brought in.

He told me about Hawkhost and gave me a recommendation, so I wandered over there and opened up a shared hosting account for my hosting needs on a few projects that I was going to set up.

Cheap, but good hosting. Haven't had any problems in the 4 months I've been with them. Even set up another account with them because I get nervous when I get too much traffic on a shared hosting plan.

I think the cost was 5 bucks a month, but you can find coupons for 40% off the first year's worth of hosting. There was another plan that cost even less. Unlimited databases, subdomains and so on.

And you can set up wildcard domains yourself, which is good.

how do you get 90k uniques and only make $40/month?

If I could figure that out, I'd be making more than $40 a month from that site.

The most I've made in a month from PYSIH is $300. Considering the amount of work I put into the site, I decided the ROI wasn't worth it and let some fans take over. On my way out for my break, I slapped some EPN ads up, along with a few other banners that I liked. I think I made .49 cents from a UK visitor with the EPN banners.

They do a great job, I still get a NetDetective sale every now and then, and everyone's happy.

Except for the murdering bastards that are featured on PYSIH.

Ive been using Hawkhost since before they changed names and were operating under Devotedhost. I stlil have a reseller account with them.

Tony and the rest of the guys over there are great - I have bothered Tony personally a number of times asking questions or trying to get things resolved quickly and have never been let down.

I did try a VPS from them when they first opened them and it had a little trouble with some of the linux images not working correctly, however, when thigns are new, shit happens and im sure they have fixed at this point.
