Putting Up First Landing Page Today Soon, Have Testing Questions!

I'm going to be putting up my first landing page very soon and I have some questions about testing before I put it up.

1. I'm going to be doing PPC, how much money should I put in to test my landing page?

2. What's split testing?

3. To test other design/landing page types, I let the different landing pages run for the same amount of clicks to see which 1 converts the most.. is this correct?

4. I currently use Clicky instead of Google Analytics, is there anything else I want to add for tracking/stats?

1, Don't go by how much you spend, try to get a statistically significant number of clicks.

2 and 3, You set up a script to send half of your traffic to one landing page the other half to another landing page. Use the one that performs better. That's split testing.

4, I never used Clicky.

Had a quick look at Clicky. Looks like it serves up a lot of info.
I'm just wondering if you're going to find all that data useful, or end up drowning in it. Too much info is nearly as bad as not enough in some cases.
