Ranking two sites on the same server for the same KW

I've got a site that is ranking #8-#10 for a KW, and I somehow missed the fact that the .com EMD for that KW is available. The KW has enough search volume to warrant it's own site, and I'd like to snap up the .com and build it out.
My question is this: does G have issues with two sites on the same server ranking for the same KW? I'm currently using shared hosting, and I don't want to incur a penalty. I think the traffic from the new EMD will easily cover a new shared hosting plan, but if I don't need to move it to it's own plan, I won't. Does anyone have experience with this?
 


I don't have experienced but looked into it quite a bit recently related to the sites in my signature. I developed four sites in the same micro-niche, different keywords. I put Adsense on all of them. Then I considered the risk.

Some people say the spam team doesn't like it and will find the footprint and could penalize. Panda was somewhat about this and the recommendation is to roll them all into one site. Other's say that the adsense team gets pissy.

I knew a dude who bought up EMD's for every keyword in one micro-niche and jumped up to like 300 bucks a day in a matter of two months. One month later he was banned from Adsense and the sites deindexed.

I have no definitive answer, just what i've found in my search for clarity on this. I chose not to risk the Adsense. I wouldn't have cared if one of them was penalized, but I don't want the Adsense account banned.

If I was you, I'd move all of the content to the new site. The entire wordpress install if that's what it is. Then I'd 301 from the old domain to the new EMD and call it a day. One site = no problems.
 
The monetization plan for these two sites doesn't include AdSense, as the CPC is too low, and there is a real lack of relevant advertisers. I'm thinking that another hosting account + private whois might be the way to go for this. The current site I have is ranking for a few other KW's and is more general in scope, so I don't know if a 301 is what I want to do... especially considering the new EMD is so laser-targeted.
 
Are you asking if G cares in terms of adsense (are you monetising with AS)? or from a SEO perspective? I have no experience in terms of AS but I have two sites on the same server ranking 1 & 3 from the same phrase with no problems for over a year

Edit, you just posted re adsense so I assume its a SEO question

Yeah, I was curious if I was begging for a penalty if I rank both sites for the same KW on the same server. I think I remember reading something about how G doesn't like multiple sites on the same server to rank for the same KW, but if you are saying it's not a problem, that's encouraging. I don't have AdSense on either of these sites, so I'm not worried about that. I'm looking at it from an SEO/rankings perspective.
 
Why not just get another hosting account? Or if they get banned just 301
