Ranking Wordpress Category Pages

Hi all,

Say I wanted to rank a wordpress Category page,

http://www.ebooks.com/category/blackberry-codes

Keyword is: blackberry codes

Would this work? I've tried ranking category pages before and can never seem to get them to index correctly, I'll go to google and search for site: http://www.ebooks.com/category/blackberry-codes

And my site won't even show up? What am I doing wrong :/

I disabled "Use noindex for Categories:" in All-In-One SEO
I've also optimized the category pages with Category Custom Fields & Category Meta fields.

Tried tweeting it? Category pages can be ranked well from my experience.

You can also change the category slug to something slightly more related than category, but i have pages with category/xx doing well too.

Theres a wp plugin i've seen that lets you add text to your category pages easily for better onpage seo.

Have you tried Google Site maps plugin?

Some of the SEO plugins will also let you change the META description for that particular category page.

Not really on the topic but you can remove the "category" from the url with WP no category base module..

Add a seo plugin like ALL-IN-ONE-SEO

write unique descriptions bla bla

Then go and start link building on it

It will show up eventually

Al in one seo lets you do the same for tags too. Always handy i think.
