Resources for learning Website Design/Hosting

I am INCREDIBLY fucking ignorant when it comes to this shit. Reason this is relevant to me right now is because I want to create a website and share its hosting on my VPS that I have with BeyondHosting. I know they can add this domain for me... but the only other domain I have is used strictly for prosper202 (which they set up for me.)

Point being, I have NO fucking clue how to even use a pre-made website template.. or how to edit that template once I have THAT figured out. I barely even know how to use Filezilla FTP. I hate, hate, HATE being involved with things that I'm not educated on... and I motherfucking love reading, so I would love it if you guys could point me out to websites/books that could help me learn this on some sort of step-by-step process.

Initial googling has failed me, so hook it up! Thanks guys.

don't bother; it's all done with computers these days.
