There don't seem to be any current threads on safelists, so I'm going to jump in and start one. My "safelists" search showed old threads in "Traffic & Content", "Affiliate Marketing" & "Newbie Questions", so I'll play it safe and stick with Newbie Questions.
I've probably sent around 200,000 pieces of mail to the safelists below in the last 6 weeks. I'd like to know what other people think about them -- whether maybe I'm getting a good thing going or just wasting time and money.
My best response was to my emails offering "100,000+ free PLR articles" and one with a headline that read "We Make $2000 Online Everyday..."
Total investment so far, around $100 for OTO upgrades plus maybe 50 hours of time.
My mailings resulted in around 3000 hits at my site, 2 sales of a $50/mo subscription website, 55 confirmed subscribers on my list at Aweber, and a couple of other spot sales. But I've been emphasizing give-aways and list building, not hard sells up front. That might be a mistake?
One concern: My email list doesn't seem to be very responsive. They confirmed, but now under 30% open my emails to them -- even when I'm giving away something for free.
Best advice I've found so far:
If you're going to do it, find a top rated safelist and take one of the OTO's when you first join. That seems to be the cheapest way to get to send lots of emails for a year or more.
Also use a program or list organizing website that automates some of the repetitive tasks and tracks when it's OK to mail again to each list.
Most responsive lists for me percentagewise: GOT Safelist, Adchiever, ListJoe, Viral Traffic Outbreak, The Lead Magnet & MicroPowerList. AdTactics also effective because of volume. They let new members send more emails than most of the other sites.
I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions --
Thanks -- Greg
